About Us

Uganda Seed Trade Association (USTA)

The Uganda Seed Trade Association (USTA) is a membership-based apex organization that brings together private sector players involved in seed production, processing, marketing, and trade in Uganda and across the East African region.

Established in 1999 following the liberalization of the seed subsector, USTA was formed to coordinate the activities of seed companies and promote the development of a vibrant, competitive, and sustainable seed industry. The association provides a unified platform for industry players to collaborate, address challenges, and contribute to the growth of the agricultural sector.

Today, USTA represents the majority of licensed seed companies in Uganda and serves as the official voice of the seed industry in engagements with government, development partners, and other stakeholders.

Through its work, USTA contributes to improving farmer access to quality-assured seed, which is a key driver of agricultural productivity, food security, and economic development.
